CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND SESSIONS

The World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025 is calling for abstracts and symposia proposals.

The Conference programme will feature engaging and diverse content including curated plenaries and state of art sessions, as well as symposia, oral presentations, moderated e-posters, and visual abstracts.

This year, we are introducing a more focused selection process, with a heightened emphasis on quality and innovation in the submissions we receive, to create a programme rich in high-quality presentations that inspire and make strides in tobacco control.

We encourage all potential submitters to bring their best ideas and research to the table. Emphasise novelty, depth, and relevance in your submissions. We know that many of you are doing groundbreaking work, and this is your chance to present it!

GENERAL INFORMATION

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

All abstracts must present original research and at least preliminary results; abstracts reporting data pending will not be accepted. Submission implies that the material has not previously been presented or published elsewhere before presentation at the World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025.

Abstracts should be submitted in English and through the online platform. Submissions in any other language and/or by email will be automatically rejected.

Accepted abstracts are placed under embargo until they are presented at the Conference.

CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION

Accepted abstract submitters presenting at the World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025 need to register online before Monday 28 April, 2025. Failing to do so will result in the abstract presentation withdrawal from the programme. If submitters have already registered for the Conference, they do not need to register again.

TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

For the World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025 we consider two categories of abstracts.

Please, don’t submit multiple abstracts from the same study/setting unless the results are truly unique for each submission, with no overlaps.

Category 1: Research

This category focuses on reporting original scientific research and public health evaluations. Abstracts submitted under this category should be structured as follows:

  • Background: Clearly state the objectives of the study, the research question, or the specific challenge that the research aims to address.
  • Methods: Outline the research setting, methodologies employed, desired outcomes, participants, and the procedures and techniques used for data collection and analysis.
  • Results: Present the specific findings.
  • Conclusions: Discuss the implications of the findings including key recommendations.

Category 2: Practice

This category emphasises sharing experiences in navigating policy or programme barriers while showcasing best practices in the implementation of effective prevention and control strategies. Abstracts of this category should be organised as follows:

  • Background and Implementation Challenges: Describe the context, specific challenges faced in programme implementation, and the activity, programme, or policy designed to address these issues. Include details about the target populations, geographic locations, and the scale and nature of the activities or services involved.
  • Intervention or Response: Explain how the challenges were overcome by detailing the methods, activities, and steps taken to implement solutions.
  • Results and Impact: Provide an overview of the project results and their impact, highlighting potential applications or benefits for other programmes. Clarify what was effective, what fell short, and the evidence that led to these insights.
  • Conclusions: Discuss the public health implications of the results and summarise key recommendations. Identify opportunities for enhancing future programme practices and their relevance to other programmes or settings.

The World Conference on Tobacco Control is explored through five tracks. Submitters are invited to choose the most relevant track to their abstract.
